The first of the month can be a great time to restart your thought process and have a clean slate for all of the things that you want to do. It is also a time where all of the bills come in and we start to scratch our heads and wonder where all the money went. For most of us, opening the power bill can be a scary experience. However, if you take your time and do home energy audits queensbury, then you can discover where your money is going and what you can do in order to save it.
What runs off power in your in your home?
To begin your audit, it is a good idea to determine what it is that uses power in your home. For many people we think that we know everything that runs power but in reality, we may have plugged in something awhile back or used something that we no longer need that is draining power as we speak. This is why it is a good idea to learn what is using power and why.
Unplug unused items
Once we discover what is using power, we can start to unplug those items that we are not using. Items such as the refrigerator, oven and other appliances typically don’t get unplugged since we use them on a constant basis. So, in general we won’t be unplugging them.
Use items off peak time
Another thing that most people don’t know is that the power company will change their prices throughout the day. At what we call peak times they will raise their prices to be higher than they would off peak times. The reasoning for this is that they feel that more people are using their services and won’t pay it back. So, to cover these costs they raise the price. To get the better price you don’t want to use your power at these peak times.
